Tomato Pugovka

Practical Application of 'Pugovka' Tomatoes

The 'Pugovka' cherry tomato variety from the Aelita agricultural firm is an excellent choice for those who value compactness and high yield. As a determinate variety with early maturity (up to 90 days from germination), it is perfectly suited for high-density planting in open ground, balcony boxes, or containers.

Use Cases

• Balcony and Container Gardening: The small size of the plant allows it to be grown in pots of 5-7 liters. This is an optimal solution for urban environments where space is limited.
• Dense Greenhouse Planting: The short bush does not require complex pruning, which saves time for farm management or small vegetable gardens.
• Canning and Culinary Decoration: With a fruit weight of up to 20 grams, these tomatoes are ideal for whole-fruit canning. Their bright red, round shape remains intact in jars, offering great visual appeal.

Agronomists recommend 'Pugovka' for projects requiring a quick harvest. Due to its early ripening period, the crop manages to produce the bulk of its yield before the peak of late blight. In agricultural operations, this variety is often chosen as a 'snack tomato'—the sweet fruits are in high demand for fresh consumption and decorating culinary dishes.

When growing this variety, it is important to note that even a compact bush needs light support if the yield is heavy. Harvesting fruits in a timely manner stimulates the formation of new clusters, extending the fruiting period until the first frost.
