Tomato Naomi

Reliability in Breeding: The Naomi Variety

Naomi is an indeterminate tomato hybrid developed by the Russian Research Institute of Vegetable Breeding (VNIIISSOK). Designed for professional greenhouse cultivation, it requires structured support and pruning. As a mid-late maturing variety with a cycle of 120–130 days, it is favored by growers who prioritize consistent output and high fruit quality in the second half of the growing season.

In-built Disease Resistance

A key feature of the Naomi variety is its genetic robustness. It is specifically bred to withstand the most common pathogens that plague greenhouses, reducing the need for intensive chemical interventions:

• Strong resistance to Fusarium and Verticillium wilts.
• Tolerance to nematodes, ensuring a healthy root system over long growing cycles.
• Effective defense mechanisms against Tobacco Mosaic Virus and various plant viral diseases.

Market Performance and Fruit Quality

The fruits are recognizable by their distinct brown color and uniform round shape. With an average weight of 150–200 grams, Naomi fits perfectly into the standard retail size category. Beyond visual appeal, the variety excels in transportability. The firm texture of the flesh allows it to remain intact during distribution, ensuring it reaches the market without bruising or loss of quality, making it a reliable choice for local supply chains.
