Swiss Chard Malachite

Efficient Production with Malakhit Chard

Malakhit chard, developed by Gavrish and the Russian Research Institute of Vegetable Breeding, is a strategic choice for growers focused on high-turnover leafy greens. With a short vegetation period of 40-50 days, it enables efficient succession planting, allowing for multiple harvests within a single season in open-field conditions.

Operational Benefits and Market Utility

• High Yield Potential: Each plant develops a substantial rosette weighing 500-800 grams. This high biomass density ensures profitability per square meter.
• Harvesting Versatility: Designed for professional use, Malakhit allows for sequential leaf harvesting, which prolongs the productive life of the crop and simplifies supply chain logistics.
• Transportability and Retail Appeal: The mix of smooth and ruffled leaf textures provides durability. The leaves maintain turgor well, ensuring that the product remains crisp and presentable during shelf life.

The variety is primarily utilized for fresh market sales and the HoReCa sector. Its succulent petioles and well-balanced flavor profile make it a staple ingredient for high-quality salads, traditional cooked dishes, and modern culinary preparations. Its adaptation to open-ground environments makes it a reliable asset for agricultural operations seeking stability and ease of cultivation.
