Sweet pea CONSUÉLO

Vertical Greening with «Consuelo»

For large-scale landscaping tasks requiring rapid coverage or dense living screens, the «Consuelo» variety from the Federal Scientific Center for Vegetable Growing is a reliable choice. This vine, capable of reaching heights up to 250 cm, is a staple tool for professional vertical gardening.

Operation and Maintenance

Successful management of «Consuelo» depends entirely on the quality of the supporting structure. Given its substantial vegetative mass, proper trellising is mandatory. We recommend using robust garden netting or sturdy wooden pergolas installed well before the active growing phase. The plant's tendrils require a stable surface with a mesh size of 10-15 cm to anchor effectively.

• Support Systems: Use rigid structures; flimsy twine will not support the weight of the mature plant during peak season.
• Application: Highly efficient for concealing old fences, framing gazebos, or creating long green corridors.
• Harvesting: Beyond landscaping, this variety is excellent for cut flowers, maintaining vase life and structural integrity.

Maintenance focuses on consistent hydration. To prevent the lower stems from becoming bare, ensure stable moisture levels at the root zone—drip irrigation systems are the most efficient way to manage this in a commercial or home garden setting. «Consuelo» offers a high return on effort, providing an aesthetic, dense growth pattern that serves as a functional tool for any landscape architect or gardener looking for height and coverage.
