Stable Yields for the Fresh Market

The sweet corn variety "Dmytryk," developed by the V. Ya. Yuriev Institute of Plant Production, is a top choice for growers seeking a balance between reliability and consistent quality. As a classic Su (normal sugar) type, this variety is designed for consumers who appreciate traditional corn flavor, making it perfect for home cooking.

Agronomic Strengths

The plant reaches a moderate height of 170–180 cm, simplifying field management and harvesting. Ears are formed at a height of 60–70 cm, which is optimal for both manual labor and mechanical support. With a vegetation period of 75–80 days, Dmytryk fits perfectly into the mid-season slot.

• Integrated Pest and Disease Control: The variety exhibits strong genetic resistance to stalk rots, common smut, and head smut, reducing the need for intensive fungicide applications.
• Tolerance: Careful breeding has provided high tolerance to the European corn borer, preserving the marketability of the ears.

Is Dmytryk the Right Choice for You?

Dmytryk is ideal for small to medium-sized farms focusing on the local fresh market. Its greatest advantage is its technological predictability—it is not as demanding as modern super-sweet (Sh2) hybrids, making it a lower-risk investment in less-than-perfect conditions. While it may not compete with extreme sugar levels of modern imported hybrids, it offers unmatched stability and consistent performance. When planted at a density of 55,000–60,000 plants per hectare, it reliably delivers high-quality yields, even under variable soil conditions.
