YVS 3 is a simple interline hybrid of sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) created by the Southern-East Research Institute of Agriculture (NIISKh Yugo-Vostoka) and LLC NPP "Agroservices". It is characterized by early maturity and an intensive growth type, reaching a height of 140-160 cm. Seeds are large, oval-elongated, dark gray in color with a weak stripe on the ribs; the mass of 1000 seeds is 76-90 g. The head is flat, located vertically on the stem and slightly droops during the technical ripening period. Leaves are green, heart-shaped, without anthocyanin pigmentation, with small serration on the edge and weak blistering.
The hybrid is distinguished by high seed oil content — averaging 52.5%, which exceeds standard indicators, as well as high yield. The average yield is about 2.57 t/ha, and under favorable conditions reaches record 4.20 t/ha. Decortication rate is within 21.0-21.8%, and natural mass is 416-420 g. YVS 3 possesses resistance to downy mildew, paspalum, and local races of the moth, as well as high tolerance to white and gray mold, which ensures crop stability and reduces losses during cultivation.
The hybrid is well adapted to the conditions of the Lower Volga region and the Volga region, maturing in 90-95 days. It is suitable for modern cultivation and processing technologies, which ensures economic efficiency due to high and stable yield of oilseeds. Thanks to good morphological uniformity of plants and high productivity, YVS 3 is a competitive choice for agricultural producers focused on obtaining high-quality and high-oil content sunflower.
