Sunflower Paraiso 1000CL Plus

Technological Potential of the Paraiso 1000KL Plus Hybrid

The German sunflower hybrid Paraiso 1000KL Plus from Saaten-Union is an intensive farming tool designed for the Clearfield (Euro-Lightning) production system. The key engineering solution here is the integration of genetic resistance to imidazolinone herbicides with high photosynthetic productivity.

Agrotechnical Performance and Morphology

With a vegetation period of 110–120 days, this hybrid is classified as medium-early. The practical advantage lies in the ability to optimize harvest planning and mitigate the risks of late-season rainfall. A stalk height of 160–170 cm ensures ease of mechanized harvesting, minimizing header losses.

Defense Mechanisms Against Pathogens

The biological armor of the hybrid is focused on neutralizing the most harmful phytopathogens capable of reducing yields by 30–50%. Paraiso 1000KL Plus demonstrates high tolerance to the following threats:

• Sclerotinia: Comprehensive protection of the head and stalk preserves plant integrity until maturation.
• Phomopsis: Preventing stalk tissue damage ensures stable achene development.
• Powdery Mildew: Natural resistance avoids the need for fungicide treatments during critical growth stages, reducing production costs.

Quality and Oil Content

The stated oil content of 50–55% is achieved through the semi-convex shape of the flower head, which optimizes nutrient accumulation. This geometry facilitates rapid water runoff after rain, which is critical for preventing secondary infections at the end of the season.
