Majestix is a new spring barley variety developed in 2016 by the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada. It belongs to the six-row subtype with spikes approximately 10-11 cm long and awns 16-18 cm long, which easily separate during threshing. Plants reach an average height of 70-80 cm and are characterized by reduced photoperiod sensitivity, allowing high yields under varying spring planting dates and in different climatic zones. The variety exhibits high drought tolerance, tolerance to acidic and saline soils, and enhanced resistance to major diseases such as rust and powdery mildew. Additionally, Majestix is resistant to lodging and lodging, has high-quality straw, and produces large, yellow, evenly-sized oval grains. It is mid-season, has excellent tillering, and rapid early growth, with protein content in grain ranging from 9-11%, making it suitable for the brewing industry. Majestix is intended for intensive cultivation methods and has a yield potential of up to 150 c/ha. It has passed variety trials in Canada, the USA, Mexico, and Argentina.
The description also mentions the microfertilizer Majestix Bor, which is not related to the barley variety, so this information has been excluded from the final description.
