GRAND STAR 50 is a high-yielding, early-maturing sunflower hybrid with resistance to herbicides containing the active ingredient tribenuron-methyl at a dosage up to 50 g/ha. This hybrid is tolerant to a wide spectrum of weeds, ensuring effective weed control in crops. It is also resistant to sunflower downy mildew strains A–G, significantly enhancing crop reliability. The vegetation period is approximately 105–115 days, allowing the hybrid to successfully adapt to various soil-climatic zones, including the Steppe and Forest-Steppe zones of Ukraine.
GRAND STAR 50 exhibits high resistance to major sunflower diseases, including root lodging, false powdery mildew, Phomopsis, Alternaria, as well as to stress factors such as drought and black root rot. Its high winter hardiness and resistance to rust, gray and white mold, as well as sunflower moth make this hybrid a reliable choice for cultivation under diverse conditions. Additionally, the hybrid demonstrates good pollen shedding and uniform maturity, facilitating even harvest.
Morphologically, GRAND STAR 50 features plant height of 170–180 cm and corolla diameter of 20–22 cm with slightly convex shape and semi-leaning position. Oil content in seeds reaches 50–52%, an important indicator of product quality. The hybrid’s yield potential is 52–60 c/ha, with average yields over test years reaching approximately 38 c/ha. High germination energy and seed viability ensure reliable and uniform crop development, making GRAND STAR 50 an optimal choice for modern farmers.
