Sunflower variety MUROMEZ is a late-maturing plant primarily intended for silage use. This tall plant with light-green leaves and yellow disc-shaped flowers is characterized by the absence of branching and weakly expressed marginal stripes on the seeds. During the flowering phase, the dry matter content in green mass ranges from 17.2% to 21.4%, and the content of mono- and polysaccharides is 7.0–7.8%. In the milky-wax ripening phase, the leaf-stem mass contains 11.1–11.6% crude protein, making this variety a valuable feed resource.
The variety is characterized by high carotene content (9.3–10.5 mg per kg of dry matter) and lactic acid (4.4–4.8%), as well as low oleic acid content (not more than 0.5%). The digestible protein content is within 7.8–8.1%. The feed unit yield per hectare reaches 2.94, at the recommended planting density of 60–65 thousand plants per hectare. These characteristics make MUROMEZ an effective choice for animal feeding.
The plant features a sturdy bush height of 1.2 to 1.5 meters, requiring staking or support on trellises for stability. Although the variety is intended for silage use, its fruits have an attractive orange color, round shape, and smooth surface, with fruit weight reaching 300 grams. The fruit flesh is juicy and has an excellent taste, allowing their use in fresh salads and as garnishes for dishes.
