Everest

Sunflower Everest is a high-oleic hybrid selection by VNIIS, designed for intensive cultivation. It features rapid early growth and the ability to effectively utilize autumn-winter soil moisture reserves, ensuring good vegetative development under adequate soil moisture. Plant height reaches 160-180 cm, and flower head size is 18-22 cm. Seeds are large and black, with oil content ranging from 48 to 52%, and oleic acid content reaching 85.8%, making this hybrid especially valuable for oil production. Hybrid Everest exhibits moderate drought tolerance and high resistance to various diseases and stress factors. It shows resistance to diseases such as fusarium, fusariosis, rust, false powdery mildew, gray and white rot, as well as pests including sunflower moth and ragweed. Additionally, the hybrid is resistant to lodging, shattering, and lodging, which helps preserve yield and improve its quality. Everest is also resistant to herbicides of the imidazolinone group, facilitating weed control in crops. To achieve maximum yield, which can reach 5.2-5.7 t/ha, it is recommended to grow Sunflower Everest on well-watered soils, primarily in the forest-steppe and steppe zones of Ukraine. Optimal plant density at harvest is 55-60 thousand plants per hectare in the forest-steppe and 45-50 thousand in the steppe. The hybrid is not recommended for sowing in areas with insufficient moisture, especially in steppe regions without quality irrigation. Everest performs best under high agro-technical conditions and adequate moisture, making it a reliable choice for oil production under favorable climatic conditions.
