Elitsun sunflower is a promising tri-lineage hybrid of linoleic type, intended for cultivation with oil usage. It was included in the Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine in 2016 and is recommended for cultivation in the Steppe zone. The hybrid is characterized by a medium-early vegetation period, lasting from emergence to full maturity 106-108 days. Plant height is 160-170 cm, and flower head diameter reaches 19 cm, contributing to high yield.
The recommended planting density for the Elitsun hybrid is 45 thousand plants per hectare, ensuring a potential seed yield of up to 4.2 tons per hectare. The hybrid is characterized by high resistance to downy mildew and drought tolerance, each rated at 9 points, making it a reliable choice for complex climatic conditions in the steppe zone. Seeds are treated with fungicides, microfertilizers, growth stimulators, and polymer dye, enhancing their quality and uniformity.
The hybrid is produced by Syngenta through selection by the Institute of Plant Industry named after V.Ya. Yuryev of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences. Seeds are cleaned on a modern CIMBRIA HELD line and meet all technical requirements of DSTU 2240-93, guaranteeing compliance with quality standards. Elitsun sunflower is a reliable and high-yielding option for farmers seeking a stable oil crop yield under steppe conditions.
