Sunflower GERONIMO SU

Field Performance: A Practical Look at "Geronimo SU"

For any grower, selecting a hybrid is a balance between yield potential and risk management. With the Mas Seeds "Geronimo SU" hybrid, the focus is clearly on stability. With a vegetation period of 110–120 days, it fits perfectly into modern intensive crop rotations, allowing for timely harvest planning.

Herbicide Tolerance and Field Management

The standout feature for operators is the compatibility with Clearfield (Euro-Lightning) herbicide systems. Practically, this means a clean field without excessive mechanical intervention. One timely application is enough to manage weeds effectively, which reduces fuel consumption and machinery wear, allowing the sunflowers to focus their energy entirely on growth rather than competition.

Disease Resistance and Structural Integrity

Disease pressure—specifically Sclerotinia, Phomopsis, and Phoma—can decimate margins. Geronimo SU demonstrates impressive innate immunity, reducing the need for intensive fungicide spraying. Standing at 160–170 cm, the plant height is ideal for combine headers, ensuring smooth cutting and minimal grain loss during harvest, with strong stems that resist lodging even in challenging weather conditions.

Profitability: Oil Content and Quality

At the end of the day, profitability comes down to the grain quality delivered to the elevator. With an oil content of 50–55%, this hybrid commands a strong market price. It is a reliable performer that consistently hits its genetic potential, proving to be a robust solution in the Mas Seeds catalog for farmers who prioritize both yield volume and oil percentage.
