Sunflower Zaporozhsky 28

Field Performance of the Zaporizkyi 28 Hybrid

This simple sunflower hybrid from the Institute of Oilseed Crops of NAAS is a reliable choice for farmers prioritizing operational stability. The plants grow to 160–170 cm, which is an ideal height for mechanical harvesting: the stalk is robust and resistant to lodging, ensuring minimal grain loss during combine operations. The medium-early vegetation period of 90–100 days allows for precise harvest scheduling, avoiding peak stress on farm machinery.

Agro-technical Stability and Economic Value

In practice, Zaporizkyi 28 stands out for its strong genetic resistance to major threats like downy mildew and powdery mildew. This inherent durability helps reduce the need for excessive fungicide applications, directly lowering your production costs. The large, high-quality seeds yield an impressive oil content of 45–50%, making the crop highly marketable for crushing plants.

• Vegetation Cycle: 90–100 days — efficient for rotation planning.
• Plant Height: 160–170 cm — optimized for header performance.
• Output Quality: High oil content (45–50%) with a large seed fraction.

For an operator, this hybrid offers a straightforward, predictable experience: uniform maturation reduces the need for complex combine adjustments, resulting in a consistent, high-quality harvest. It is a proven Ukrainian selection that excels in local climatic conditions, providing a solid return on investment through durability and ease of cultivation.
