ED 65

ED 65 is an early-maturing hybrid sunflower of linoleic type, characterized by high yield and oil content. The vegetative period is approximately 110 days, allowing the hybrid to be successfully grown in steppe and forest-steppe regions. Plants feature large seeds with an elongated shape and black kernels, with a thousand-seed weight reaching 65–70 grams, and oil content in seeds ranging from 47 to 49%. The flower head diameter is 18–23 cm, flat or slightly convex and downward-facing, which promotes good seed filling. The hybrid has a strong but not overly thick stem, 145–165 cm tall, with a well-developed, robust root system ensuring efficient water uptake and drought resistance. ED 65 exhibits high ecological plasticity and resistance to major sunflower diseases such as Phomopsis, rust, and false powdery mildew, as well as pests, particularly sunflower moth. Additionally, the hybrid is insensitive to most known strains of the sunflower moth parasite, significantly simplifying its cultivation. A distinctive feature of the hybrid is its compatibility with ClearField® technology, making it resistant to herbicides based on imidazolinones (IMI). This enables effective weed control and unlocks its yield potential, which according to the breeder reaches 47 centners per hectare. The recommended plant population is 45–55 thousand plants per hectare, which supports optimal growth and maximum yield.
