The sunflower hybrid "Divna", developed by the Dobrudzhansky Zemedelsky Ynstytut, represents a significant achievement in Bulgarian agricultural science. Created by a team of experts including Galin Georgiev and R. Efremova, this simple hybrid was designed to offer farmers a reliable solution for fields with high disease pressure. It stands as a testament to the long-standing expertise of the Dobroudja Agricultural Institute in General Toshevo.

Field Performance and Potential

With a vegetation period ranging from 100 to 120 days, "Divna" fits well into various crop rotation cycles, providing flexibility in harvesting timing. The plants grow to a height of 160–170 cm, showing strong uniformity in the field. Beyond its physical traits, the hybrid offers an oil content of 45–50%, making it a valuable commodity for the processing industry.

Robust Protection and Management

The standout feature of this hybrid is its built-in defense system. It shows high genetic tolerance against common threats such as white rot, gray rot, and powdery mildew. Furthermore, its resistance to phomopsis reduces the need for extensive fungicide programs, saving costs and labor. Most importantly, "Divna" is fully compatible with the Clearfield (EURO-LIGHTNING) herbicide technology. This allows for effective control of broomrape and a wide range of weeds, ensuring the crop reaches its full yield potential without competition.
