Description A 89
Sunflower A 89 is a hybrid oilseed crop with high yield and adaptability to various soil-climatic conditions. It belongs to mid- or early-maturing hybrids with a vegetative period of 105 to 118 days, allowing cultivation across a wide range of regions. Plants have medium height, and the flower head is convex with a semi-upright or semi-erect inclination, which promotes good seed filling and quality. Thousand seed mass varies within 53–62 grams, and oil content reaches 45–54%, depending on the hybrid type — oleic or linoleic. The oleic type is characterized by high oleic acid content (87–90%), improving oil quality. Hybrid A 89 exhibits high resistance to major sunflower diseases, including race A-E of downy mildew, false powdery mildew (RM9), phomopsis, sclerotinia of various plant parts, verticillium wilt, and rust. It also demonstrates good resistance to stress factors such as drought and lodging, ensuring stable yields under adverse conditions. Energy for initial development and plant growth are at a high level, promoting rapid and uniform crop development. Sowing sunflower A 89 is recommended at soil temperature of 10–12 degrees Celsius, at depth of 8–10 cm, with plant density of 60,000 plants per hectare under unfavorable conditions and up to 70,000 plants per hectare under favorable conditions. The hybrid is suitable for cultivation in various regions, including the Polissia and Steppe zones of Ukraine, as well as areas with high risk of anthracnose and false powdery mildew. Due to its characteristics and resistance, A 89 is a reliable choice for obtaining high-quality sunflower yields.
