Beet sugar variety VLAD is a high-quality hybrid developed by SESVANDERHAVE, a leader in sugar beet seed selection with improved genetics. This hybrid is characterized by high yield and sugar content, confirmed by successful application in both classical cultivation techniques and the innovative CONVISO SMART system. Special attention was paid during the creation of this variety to important traits such as drought tolerance, nematode tolerance, and resistance to root rot pathogens, ensuring stable and reliable yields under various climatic conditions.
The root of sugar beet VLAD has an elongated shape and a weight ranging from 0.3 to 0.6 kg, with white flesh and light-green leaf rosette. Due to its rich content of sucrose, microelements, and vitamins, this variety is widely used not only for sugar production but also in culinary applications, such as making candied fruits, and as animal feed. Successful cultivation of sugar beet VLAD requires warmth, light, and adequate soil moisture. The optimal temperature for seed germination is 10–12ºC, with seeds recommended to be soaked in warm water for 2–3 days with regular water changes. Seed planting depth is 2–3 cm, and harvest is conducted at the end of September to the beginning of October.
Cultivation of sugar beet VLAD is supported by modern agronomic methods and equipment, enabling stable and high-quality yields. In particular, in Ukraine, where sugar beet is a key component of the sugar industry, irrigation systems are employed to provide optimal growing conditions for plants. Companies involved in sugar beet processing invest in expanding land resources and developing infrastructure, which contributes to increasing production efficiency and access to international markets. For storage, it is recommended to use cellars with a temperature of +1 to +5°С, which allows maintaining the quality of roots until further processing.
