Sugar beet POLL FD 0607

The Genetic Foundation of Yield: POLL FD 0607

French selection from Florimond-Desprez has traditionally focused on complex resistance, and POLL FD 0607 is a prime example. This sugar beet hybrid is built on extensive genomic development designed to minimize risks in intensive farming conditions.

Biological Defense Against Soil and Leaf Pathogens

The key feature of this hybrid is its pronounced «immunity» during the starting and vegetation stages:

• Root rot and Black root (Aphanomyces): Due to genetically determined high germination energy, seeds pass through the vulnerability phase faster, which is critical in cold or waterlogged soil conditions. This protective barrier minimizes plant loss.
• Cercospora and Rots: The breeder has focused on increasing the leaf canopy's tolerance to Cercospora. For an agronomist, this means a wider window for fungicide application efficiency and the preservation of photosynthetic surface area until late autumn.

Root Morphology: Harvesting Efficiency

The broad-conical shape of the root is not just a standard, but a specific solution for reducing losses during mechanical harvesting. This geometry ensures an "easy exit" from the soil, minimizing damage to the beet tail by the harvester. Less soil adherence and the absence of secondary roots allow for higher cleaning efficiency and, consequently, lower impurity levels at receiving points. Stable root development allows for predictable harvest scheduling and logistics.

POLL FD 0607 from Florimond-Desprez Veuve et Fils demonstrates balanced development, where technological yield parameters are supported by a powerful phytosanitary profile.
