POL S 2371 is a variety of sugar beet, a biennial root crop of the amaranth family. The plant forms a root with firm white pulp and basal leaves forming a rosette. Sugar beets of this variety contain a high sugar level, reaching 18–20%, making them in demand for sugar production. Additionally, the crop is widely used as a feed base due to its high content of nutrients.
Cultivation of POL S 2371 is carried out in open ground, with optimal conditions for seed germination being a temperature of +10-12°C, and for growth and development – +20-22°C. To increase the efficiency of processing, winter sowing is recommended. Sugar beets are also valued for their feed value: in 100 kg of roots there are 25 feed units and 1.2 kg of digestible protein, and the tops provide 20 feed units and 2.2 kg of digestible protein.
The variety is characterized by high yield and resistance to diseases, which ensures stable collection and product quality. POL S 2371 is suitable for cultivation in a temperate climate and is an important crop both for the sugar industry and for animal husbandry, thanks to the combination of high sweetness and feed value.
