MS C 2162 is a variety of sugar beet, the most important sugar-yielding crop in temperate zones. Modern varieties, including MS C 2162, contain 18–20% sugar, making them valuable raw material for the sugar industry. Sugar beet has a taproot system; it is a biennial plant with flowering stems reaching up to 1.5 meters in height. Beet requires specific conditions for successful cultivation: the optimal temperature for seed germination is 10–12 °C, for growth 20–22 °C, and the best soils are chernozems with a neutral reaction.
