Sugar beet MS C 2162

Genetic Potential and Crop Protection

Sugar beet breeding by Sesvanderhave Nv/Sa has long been a benchmark for intensive farming. The MS C 2162 hybrid is the result of in-depth work on the balance between sugar accumulation and plant biological resilience. The key feature of this solution is the combination of high sugar content (at 18-19%) with a robust genetic "armor" against the most dangerous pathogens in European and Eurasian regions.

Technical Breakdown of Resistance

• Rhizomania: Viral necrotic yellow vein is a scourge for many sugar beet fields. MS C 2162 carries specific resistance markers that allow the crop to maintain metabolic activity even in infected soil, preventing root crop losses at early developmental stages.
• Cercospora leaf spot: This disease can destroy a plant’s photosynthetic apparatus in just a couple of weeks. Sesvanderhave Nv/Sa genetics ensure long-term protection of the leaf rosette, which is critical for root filling in the second half of the growing season.

The practical value of MS C 2162 lies in the stability of sugar yield. Unlike highly productive but "fickle" hybrids, this option is adapted to environments where the infection pressure is elevated. Field trials show that with standard fungicide pressure, the variety demonstrates high juice purity and excellent storage quality for transport to sugar refineries. It is an optimal solution for farms aiming to reduce costs for extra field treatments by leveraging the hybrid's natural immune system.
