Fodder beet Kampai

Consistent performance in the field

Managing sugar beet crops often feels like a constant battle against disease. With the «Kampai» hybrid by Syngenta, the process becomes significantly more predictable. As a normal-yielding (NE) type, this hybrid acts as a reliable workhorse in the field. In conditions where other varieties might falter due to cercospora or rhizomania, this hybrid holds up remarkably well, often reducing the need for aggressive fungicide application programs.

Field-proven disease resistance

Practical experience confirms that «Kampai» shows strong resistance to a wide range of common threats:

• Oomycete root rot and other fungal decays are kept under control.
• Viral diseases and rhizomania, which can decimate weaker varieties, are managed at the genetic level.
• Powdery mildew and leaf rust do not require emergency measures, even during periods of high humidity.

The oval-conical shape of the root is a major advantage for mechanical harvesting. The beet lifts easily from the soil, reducing damage from the harvester’s components, which translates into better storability. Lower harvest losses are a significant factor for any operation looking to maximize profit margins.

Operational ease and reliability

Working with «Kampai» is straightforward because the hybrid is consistent in its development. It doesn’t require the "hand-holding" needed by more delicate, high-maintenance varieties. You get uniform emergence and even root growth, which simplifies both harvester calibration and harvest logistics. The Swiss breeding quality from Syngenta means that if a resistance profile is stated, it delivers exactly that in the field. For a farm operator, this translates to fewer surprises, predictable costs, and greater confidence in the end yield.
