The 2025 SESVANDERHAVE selection novelty, Galago sugar beet, is designed to maximize sugar yield across diverse soil and climatic conditions in Ukraine. This F1 hybrid demonstrates high adaptability, making it suitable for cultivation in the Steppe, Forest-Steppe, and Polissya regions.

Agronomic Recommendations

• Sowing: Optimal sowing time begins when soil temperature at seed depth reaches +6…+8°C. Early sowing promotes robust root system development before the onset of summer drought periods.
• Planting Pattern: The recommended harvest density is 90,000–110,000 plants per hectare. A 45 cm row spacing is the standard to ensure optimal nutrient area and efficient machinery operation.
• Soil Requirements: Galago thrives in structural chernozems with a neutral to slightly alkaline pH (6.5–7.5). Avoid heavy, waterlogged soils with high groundwater levels, as these conditions trigger root rot.
• Phase-Specific Care: During the 2–4 true leaf stage, it is critical to perform the first inter-row cultivation to control weeds and improve soil aeration. During the intensive root growth phase (July–August), the hybrid responds well to micronutrient application, particularly boron, to prevent heart rot.

The Belgian genetics of SESVANDERHAVE provide high resistance to stress factors; however, realizing the full yield potential requires careful moisture management. In the Steppe zone, when irrigation systems are available, Galago shows consistently high sugar content, making it a strategic choice for farms focused on intensive production.
