Sugar beet ELIXIR

Maximizing Yields with the «Elixir» Sugar Beet Hybrid

When selecting sugar beet seeds, the main goal is to balance tonnage with sugar content to meet factory requirements. The «Elixir» hybrid, developed by Denmark’s DLF (originator Dlf Beet Seed Aps), is a standout in the Z-type category.

Performance and Characteristics

As a diploid sugar-type hybrid, «Elixir» has become a staple for those focusing on high polarization figures. From a field management perspective, the crop is highly manageable. It develops a uniform canopy, which is essential for suppression of weeds and optimal photosynthesis, while the root morphology ensures deep soil penetration, making it ideal for efficient mechanical harvesting.

Field Experience and Observations

• Emergence: The seed vigor is impressive.
• Stress Tolerance: The hybrid shows excellent resilience during dry spells. It maintains turgor pressure better than many other hybrids, which helps in maintaining yield potential when weather conditions turn unfavorable.
• Harvesting Efficiency: The roots are dense and well-shaped. During mechanical harvesting, the roots clean off well in the harvester's cleaning units, significantly reducing soil tare at the point of delivery.

This hybrid is designed for growers who prioritize ROI and need a variety that delivers stable sugar content without requiring complex, experimental cultivation techniques. It is a reliable, high-performing crop that meets the rigorous demands of modern sugar factories.
