Description BIATHLON
Biathlon is a one-stem diploid hybrid of sugar beet (Beta vulgaris L. ssp. vulgaris var. saccharifera Alef.) on a sterile NZ-type base. The plant is of medium height with a conical root of medium length and a white underground part. Leaves are semi-erect, green, with a light green petiole. Root mass varies from 472 to 808 grams, ensuring high yield in various growing regions.

The hybrid is distinguished by high resistance to diseases such as rhizomania, rhizoctonia, and root rot, and has good storability in cellars. Under field conditions, a low level of damage from root aphid and Cercospora is noted, which contributes to maintaining the quality and quantity of the crop. Biathlon is recommended for cultivation under irrigation, which further increases its productivity.

Based on the results of tests in various regions, such as the North Caucasus and Volga regions, the hybrid demonstrates high root yield — up to 661.6 ц/га, sugar content in roots reaches 17.4–18.1%, and sugar collection is up to 113.5 ц/га. These indicators make Biathlon an attractive choice for producers focused on obtaining a high sugar output and stable yield.
