Sugar beet BENIAMINA KWS

Stable Yield Under High Disease Pressure

The sugar beet hybrid “Beniamina KWS” is a go-to choice for agronomists operating in regions prone to intense pathogen development. Classified as a Normal-Sugar type (NZ), it serves as a versatile tool for achieving consistent sugar output without significant losses in root yield.

Agronomic Potential and Defense

The primary value of “Beniamina KWS” lies in its genetically inherent tolerance to a complex of the most dangerous beet diseases. In scenarios where chemical protection might not fully curb an epiphytotic outbreak, this hybrid demonstrates high resistance to:

• Rhizoctonia;
• Cercospora leaf spot;
• Ramularia;
• Powdery mildew.

This multi-level resistance allows for the optimization of fungicide application strategies. In operations where crop rotation is heavily reliant on sugar beets or the soil profile is infected with root rot pathogens, “Beniamina KWS” acts as a “safety” hybrid, ensuring plant population density remains stable right up to harvest.

Field Application and Management

The NZ (Normal-Sugar) variety type is optimized for maximizing sugar yield per hectare. In practical terms, “Beniamina KWS” is best suited for mid-to-late harvest windows. Its robust foliage remains healthy until the very end of the growing season—protected by its inherent resistance to foliar diseases—allowing the plant to continue synthesizing and storing sugar even during the stressful conditions of August and September.

Agronomists select this hybrid for fields with a high risk of Rhizoctonia, where traditional varieties often suffer from a sharp decline in root mass. When mineral nutrition protocols are followed correctly, “Beniamina KWS” provides not only high yields but also excellent mechanical harvestability, which helps minimize losses during the harvesting process.
