Spinach Serow

Consistent Yields with Superior Foliage Quality

The Serow spinach hybrid from the Dutch breeder Rijk Zwaan is engineered for professional growers prioritizing high marketable yield and robust crop health. In commercial production, where uniform appearance and disease pressure are constant challenges, Serow stands out for its deep, dark green leaf color and reliable performance.

Practical Advantages for Modern Farming

• Disease Resistance: The primary strength of Serow is its high resistance to downy mildew (Peronospora), which significantly reduces the need for frequent fungicide applications. This makes it an excellent choice for IPM (Integrated Pest Management) programs.
• Harvesting Performance: The plant architecture is perfectly suited for mechanized harvesting. The leaves possess the necessary density and structural integrity to withstand handling, packing, and transit without premature wilting.
• Market Appeal: The intense dark green color meets the stringent standards of the fresh-cut market, ensuring that the final product looks fresh and premium on the shelves for a longer duration.

Choosing Serow allows agronomists to optimize their production schedule. By mitigating the risks associated with fungal outbreaks, especially during high-humidity seasons, producers can ensure a consistent supply to retailers. This hybrid is a strategic asset for operations that require a balance between high-volume output and the aesthetic quality needed to command a premium price.
