Spinach Accordion

Consistent performance for professional growers

When working with the Accordion hybrid from Pop Vriend Seeds-NL, the first thing you notice is the consistency. For any professional grower, this predictability is vital. This variety is highly regarded for its deep, dark green leaf color that maintains its premium appearance even during long-distance transport. In commercial vegetable production, this reliability translates directly into higher pack-out rates and fewer losses at the processing stage.

Field resistance

The greatest challenge in spinach cultivation is downy mildew. Incorporating 'Accordion' into your rotation significantly mitigates the risk of losses. The plant exhibits excellent field resistance to spinach downy mildew, which reduces the necessity for frequent fungicide applications. This is not only a cost-saving measure but also a strategic advantage when trying to meet strict residue limits for major retail chains.

Cultivation and harvest

Developed under Dutch breeding standards, 'Accordion' features high uniformity. For farms utilizing mechanical harvesting, this is a game-changer. The even leaf rosette height allows for precision cutting, ensuring that the harvest is clean and the leaves remain intact rather than bruising or turning into waste. The foliage is robust and holds up well after cutting, maintaining its texture throughout the cold chain.
