Soybean variety Volta is a mid-early hybrid with a vegetative period of about 90-95 days and 2500 CPU heat units. This variety is characterized by high yield potential, reaching 2.1-2.5 tons per hectare, and under optimal conditions, it can yield up to 44-48 centners per hectare. The plant is of medium height — from 80 to 100 cm, with purple inflorescences, and pods and stems have a distinctive intense reddish tint. Seeds are oval-shaped, yellow, unpigmented, with a 1000-seed weight of 140-160 grams. The height of the attachment of lower pods above the ground is at least 10 cm, which facilitates harvest convenience.
Volta has high resistance to major soybean diseases, including fusarium, downy mildew, septoria, and especially phytophthora. Additionally, the variety shows resistance to lodging, pod shattering, and cracking, as well as tolerance to stress factors and drought conditions. Due to its resistance to the herbicide Roundup, weed control can be performed from the first seedlings until flowering, reducing the number of agrochemical treatments and increasing economic efficiency of cultivation.
Soybean Volta is adapted to various soil-climatic conditions and is recommended for cultivation for both feed and food purposes. The recommended planting rate is 700-750 thousand seeds per hectare, with an optimal plant density at harvest of 550-600 thousand plants per hectare and row spacing of 38-45 cm. High protein content in seeds — around 40-41%, and fat content — 21-22% — makes this variety attractive for producing high-quality and high-volume yields. The developer of this variety is NAAN of Ukraine, and the seeds are supplied in 50 kg packages.
