GL Melanie

GL Melanie soybean variety is a medium-maturing hybrid with high yield and stable protein content in the seeds, reaching 36.7–43.3%. Plants reach a height of 60–70 cm, have purple flowers and yellow hilum on the seeds. Seeds are yellow, with a 1000-seed weight of about 165 g. The variety is characterized by tolerance to diseases such as rust, septoria, and sclerotinia, as well as resistance to lodging and shattering, ensuring yield stability and high product quality. GL Melanie belongs to the early-maturing varieties with a vegetative period of about 110 days and very early flowering. It is recommended for cultivation in the Central Chernozem region, including the Oryol, Kursk, and Tambov regions. The optimal seeding rate is 60–70 germinating seeds per square meter, with planting carried out when soil temperature reaches 10°C. To achieve a yield of 30 centners per hectare, specific agronomic practices are required, including application of phosphorus, potassium, and magnesium, as well as mandatory inoculation and herbicide application depending on weed infestation. The GL Melanie variety is versatile in use: suitable for feed, food, and technical purposes. The recommended moisture content for harvest is 14–18%, with harvest conducted at low combine drum speeds to avoid yield losses and quality reduction. Late harvesting at moisture levels below 12% may result in losses up to 15%. Seeding equipment includes row widths of 45 or 75 cm, and harvest typically begins in early September. Due to its characteristics and adaptation to regional conditions, GL Melanie is a reliable choice for agricultural producers.
