EUR5041 — an advanced hybrid of conventional grain sorghum of intensive type, developed in the USA and certified to OECD standards. Plants reach a height of 1.0–1.1 meters, have semi-open panicles and white kernels with a powdery endosperm. This hybrid is characterized by high genetic stability and does not contain tannins, which improves the quality of the grain for food use. The vegetation period is 100–115 days, allowing for early harvests.
The grain of EUR5041 is characterized by high protein (14%) and starch (74%) content, making it valuable raw material for starch and alcohol production, as well as for food purposes. The hybrid has excellent milling properties and is easily threshed, facilitating technological processing. The potential grain yield reaches 100–120 centners per hectare at the recommended seeding rate of 120,000–180,000 seeds per hectare.
EUR5041 exhibits increased cold resistance in early growth stages, enabling early planting even in relatively cold soil. The hybrid is resistant to drought, lodging, diseases, and pests, particularly to the biotypes 'A' and 'C' of the sorghum bug. Productive tillering is 3–5, which contributes to forming a stable and high yield across a wide cultivation area.
