Sorghum COMPOSITION

Sorghum Variety «Sostav»: Agronomic Excellence

The «Sostav» sorghum variety, developed by the North Caucasus Federal Agricultural Research Center (SKFNAZ), is a testament to precise grain-focused breeding. Created by a team of prominent researchers—Vakhopsky E.K., Volodin A.B., and Bagrintseva N.A.—this variety is engineered to excel in arid environments while providing consistent output for grain producers.

Technical Specifications and Market Value

The primary advantage of the «Sostav» variety is its white grain, which is highly sought after in both the feed industry and for various food processing applications. Its nutrient profile makes it a reliable choice for operations requiring high-energy ingredients:

• Grain Direction: Optimized for yield and quality.
• Protein Content: Stable range of 10% to 12%.
• Starch Content: 50–60%, ensuring high nutritional density.
• Origin: Developed and patented by FGBNU SKFNAZ.

By integrating «Sostav» into crop rotation, producers benefit from the robustness characteristic of SKFNAZ breeding. It offers a balance of modern yield potential and traditional crop hardiness, making it an essential component in modern dryland agricultural systems where resilience is as important as the bottom line.
