Ogonek

Common Sorbus «OGONEK» – a medium-sized ornamental deciduous tree, reaching about three meters in height with a rounded crown approximately two meters wide. The foliage is medium-sized, smooth and matte, green in color; leaves are elongated, short-pointed, and not densely hairy. The trunk and large branch bark is brownish-brown and smooth.

Fruit structures are simple and compound crotch-buds; fruits have medium weight (1.5–1.7 g), turning yellowish-orange during ripening and becoming red-orange when fully mature. The flesh is bright yellow, juicy, and fine-grained, with a sweet-sour taste and a slight aroma. Each fruit contains 8.8% sugar, 2.6% acid, and 95 mg of vitamin C.

«OGONEK» is distinguished by high resistance to diseases (rust) and pests (spider mites, aphids). The tree thrives in both sunny and shaded locations, preferring fertile soils – loams and chernozems. Due to moderate winter hardiness, heat tolerance, and drought resistance, the plant adapts easily to various climatic conditions, making it an excellent choice for group planting in the garden.
