Description MONTEREY
The Monterey strawberry variety is a high-yielding remontant variety of American selection, developed at the University of California through the crossing of the Albion variety and a special selection Cal 97.85-6. The berries of this variety are large, weighing from 30 to 50 grams, have an elongated conical shape and a rich red color with a slight sheen. The taste of the berries is sweet with a rich aroma and a slight acidity, the flesh is juicy and dense, which makes them especially attractive to consumers. Fruiting begins in late spring and continues until the first autumn frosts, which ensures a long harvest period. Monterey is characterized by high resistance to most common strawberry diseases, including powdery mildew, root rot, and anthracnose. The variety has medium frost resistance, so in regions with cold winters, additional plant protection is recommended. The yield of the variety is very high - up to 1.5 kg of berries can be collected from one bush per season, which makes it popular among gardeners and farmers in various climatic conditions.
