Description Safari
SAFARI is a high-yielding sugar beet hybrid (Beta vulgaris L. ssp. vulgaris var. saccharifera Alef.) intended for cultivation in the Central-Black-Earth, Middle-Volga, and Urals regions. The hybrid belongs to mid-late or late-maturing plant types, is characterized by high root crop yield and high sugar content. In the Central-Black-Earth region, yield reaches up to 605 c/ha with sugar content of approximately 16.7–17.3%, while in the Urals region yield exceeds standard indicators, reaching 482–516 c/ha with sugar content up to 17.8%. Sugar extraction is also high, reaching up to 102 c/ha. The hybrid has resistance to a range of diseases, including fusarium, canker, and aphanomyces root rots, and is tolerant to cercosporosis. At the same time, in the Central-Black-Earth region, moderate infection by powdery mildew and wireworm is noted.

To protect sugar beet crops from broad-leaved weeds, the post-emergence herbicide Safari is used, which effectively controls weeds thanks to the active substance triflusulfuron-methyl. The herbicide is absorbed by weed leaves and partially roots, has soil activity and can suppress seedlings for 1–2 weeks. The mechanism of action of the drug is based on blocking cell division in sensitive plants, which leads to the stoppage of weed growth within a few hours after treatment. The first symptoms of infection appear as chlorosis after 4–7 days, and complete weed death occurs after a few weeks. The product is safe for sugar beet at all growth stages due to the rapid metabolism of the crop, which ensures selectivity and plant protection.

The herbicide Safari is released in the form of a wettable powder and is supplied in convenient water-soluble packaging. The recommended rate of application is 30 g/ha with the addition of the surfactant Trend 90 to increase efficiency and absorption. Treatment can be carried out from the appearance of seedlings to row closure, with the spraying time determined by the stage of weed development. Safari is compatible with a number of other herbicides, insecticides, and fungicides, which allows using it in integrated systems for the protection of sugar beet crops.
