New winter rape variety «Volsky» – the result of the work of scientists at Saratov State University of Genetics, Biotechnology and Engineering named after N. I. Vavilov. The variety is characterized by high winter hardiness and resistance to powdery mildew, alternaria, damage from cruciferous leaf miner and cruciferous flea beetles. It also shows resistance to drought, low temperatures and frosts, as well as the ability to withstand weeds, which makes it suitable for cultivation in various soil and climatic conditions.
The seed yield of the variety is in the range of 12.4–14.3 c/ha, the mass of 1000 seeds is 1.1–1.3 g, and the fat content reaches up to 40%. Thanks to the early seed maturity date, «Volsky» allows optimizing the harvesting conveyor and increasing the utilization of processing equipment of the oilseed industry. The variety is resistant to inflorescence formation when sown at the end of the optimal seed application period, which increases the flexibility of planning agro-technical measures.
«Volsky» is suitable for mechanized harvesting and has great plasticity, allowing it to successfully develop on a wide range of soils. Its production ecological safety makes it an attractive choice for modern farmers striving for sustainable development of the agro-industrial complex.
