PEREDOVIK

Winter flax variety "PEREDOVIK" is a highly efficient feed and food product with excellent winter hardiness and a short growing season (320‑328 days). Plant height is 65‑80 cm, and seeds have a yellow-brown hue. Fat content in seeds ranges from 38.8% to 43.2%, making them valuable sources of vegetable oil and protein.

The variety is resistant to major cruciferous pathogens: powdery mildew, alternaria, damage from cruciferous flea beetles and cruciferous flower weevils. Thanks to these properties, "PEREDOVIK" is suitable for mechanized harvesting and can be grown on various soil types, except for heavy clay soils.

The early variety grows well in the Volga region, where its yield exceeds spring flax. Bushes reach 75‑110 cm in height, the root is taprooted, and seeds are elongated-oval and reddish-brown in color. Yield can reach up to 20 hundredweight per hectare, with 1000-seed mass ranging from 0.9 g to 1.4 g. Oil content exceeds 40%. Flax responds well to nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers (30 kg N and 45 kg P₂O₅ per hectare), and sowing is usually done in rows at a rate of 8‑10 kg/ha with a planting depth of 1‑2 cm.

Flax oil is widely used in the paint and varnish, soap-making industries, as well as in medicine and cosmetology due to its nourishing and moisturizing properties. Meal after thermal processing serves as concentrated feed: 100 kg of meal is equivalent to 115 feed units, and 1 kg contains 270 g of digestible protein, including methionine – an important amino acid for birds and sheep.
