False Flax SAG 2014

Working with Camelina (Gold-of-Pleasure) SAG 2014

SAG 2014 camelina is a choice for those who value balanced crop performance with a short growing season and predictable yields. Developed by the Russian Research Institute of Sorghum and Corn, it has proven to be a reliable component for crop rotation, requiring minimal fuss if the standard agronomic guidelines are followed.

Agronomic features and field performance

In real-world conditions, this variety shows excellent uniformity. With a 1000-seed weight of 1.0–1.5 g, it requires careful pneumatic drill settings to avoid uneven distribution. The yellow color of the seeds makes quality control during cleaning quite straightforward. Given its oil content, this variety is highly sought after by the oilseed industry, while the meal serves as an excellent feed component, making it economically efficient for diversified farms.

Operating notes

• Sowing: The variety responds well to timely planting. Thanks to its high germination energy, it establishes ground cover quickly, helping to suppress weeds during the early growth stages.
• Maintenance: The crop is fairly plastic regarding weather conditions, though it performs best when seeding rates are calibrated to the actual seed weight (1.0–1.5 g).
• Harvesting: Timing is key to minimizing shattering losses. It does not require niche plant protection products, fitting well into standard farm spray schedules.

If you are looking for an oilseed crop that does not burden your logistics or machinery pool, SAG 2014 is a solid workhorse. The breeding team, including V.I. Zhuzhukin and V.S. Gorbunov, has created a product that delivers consistent results provided the basic soil nutrition and harvest timelines are met.
