Description Baron
The winter rape variety «Baron» is a highly effective oilseed crop developed by leading research institutes. It is characterized by a medium plant height of about 75 cm and green, non-hairy leaves, which facilitates mechanized harvesting. The seeds are yellow-brown in color, have a mass of 1.60–1.65 g per 1000 seeds, and contain 40–40.5% oil.

The key advantages of the «Baron» variety include high winter hardiness and resistance to various stress factors: lodging, shattering, drought, and powdery mildew. The vegetative period is 293 days, allowing for harvest throughout the entire season. At standard moisture levels, seed yield reaches 22–24 c/ha, with a potential of up to 53 c/ha under optimal conditions. Seed oil content is approximately 47%, and the erucic acid content in the oil is 2.20%. Additionally, the variety is characterized by a high glucosinolate content (13–15 μmol/g) and good green mass yield (70 t/ha).

«Baron» is suitable for cultivation in various soil and climatic conditions, including the North-West, Central, Central-Black Earth, and North-Caucasus regions. Due to the combination of high yield, resistance to adverse factors, and ease of mechanized harvesting, this variety is the preferred choice for producing edible and technical oil from winter rape.
