Description ALAB 1
ALAB-1 is a medium-sized clonal rootstock for stone fruits, obtained by crossing apricot hybrid 3 (Prunus cerasifera) with common apricot (Armenica vulgaris). It is distinguished by good compatibility with various plum varieties (Anna Shpet, Stenley), cherry plum (Purple, Kuban Comet), apricot (Raznocheeked) and peach (Simirenko Memory). Grafted on ALAB-1 trees demonstrate stable fruiting over years and higher yield compared to those grafted on seedlings of wild cherry plum.

The rootstock is characterized by a well-developed root system penetrating to a depth of 2 m, with the main mass of roots concentrated in the soil layer from 20 to 50 cm. This ensures drought resistance and good water retention capacity. Shoots are straight, non-hairy, brownish-brown color; leaves are rounded, medium-sized with a short-pointed tip, green, shiny and slightly wavy.

Reproduction of ALAB-1 is carried out both with green cuttings in artificial mist installations (survival rate 58.3%) and woody cuttings (46.4%). In the nursery, rooted cuttings survive at 90%. The rootstock has increased resistance to frost and withstands a complex of harmful biotic and abiotic stresses, which makes it suitable for intensive cultivation of stone fruits in various climatic conditions.
