The Speeker rootstock is a clonal plant specifically developed for intensive cultivation of fruit crops. It is distinguished by high adaptability to climatic and soil conditions in southern Russia, resistance to various stresses, and the ability to ensure early fruiting while simultaneously increasing the productivity of grafted varieties. Thanks to its good compatibility with different fruit types, the rootstock is widely used for plums and can also be used for apricot and peach cultivation.
The physical characteristics of Speeker make it an attractive choice for gardeners: the bush is medium-sized, erect, with straight, non-branching shoots that are brownish-brown in color and hairless. Leaves are elongated, rounded, long-tipped, green, corrugated, with a doubly serrated wavy margin. The rootstock does not produce suckers and maintains a compact crown structure, which allows reducing its height by 27-35% compared to seedling rootstocks.
Propagation is carried out using green and semi-woody cuttings: rooting rate of green cuttings reaches up to 100%, and semi-woody cuttings up to 85.1%. This ensures high production efficiency. Speeker is also characterized by hardiness and higher yield compared to seedling rootstocks, making it the preferred choice for commercial orchards and gardens where stability and product quality are important.
