The Verity strawberry variety is a remontant cultivar developed in the USA and patented in England in 2013. It is characterized by high yield, reaching up to 1.5 kg per plant, and exceptional dessert flavor with a distinctive caramel aftertaste and a delicate wild strawberry aroma. The berries are large, weighing up to 40 grams, with a proper conical shape, firm yet juicy flesh, and a resilient, glossy skin. The fruit color is deep red, which does not fade during processing, and due to its tough skin, the berries withstand transportation and long-term storage well.
Verity plants are medium-dense, semi-spreading, with light green medium-sized leaves that spread outward as they grow. The flower stems are multi-flowered, positioned at leaf level, and bend under the weight of the fruit; therefore, it is recommended to cover the beds with non-woven material. The variety is mid-late, with harvest beginning closer to autumn, primarily in September. Verity has a strong root system and is well-adapted to dry, mild climates with summer temperatures ranging from +18 to +25°C. It is resistant to weather fluctuations but sensitive to intense heat.
For successful cultivation of Verity, loamy soils with sand, well-drained and moisture-retentive, are preferred. In open ground, the variety shows lower yields, so it is recommended to grow it in greenhouses, polytunnels, containers, or bags where optimal conditions can be maintained. Plants should be planted on sunny sites facing south or west, with proper spacing between plants and rows for good ventilation. The variety is moderately resistant to diseases, practically unaffected by powdery mildew, root rot, and fruit rot, making it attractive for commercial cultivation.
