Raspberry remontant variety "Babshe leto" is a time-tested and reliable choice for gardeners growing this crop in southern and moderate climate zones. This variety was bred more than half a century ago by Academician Kazakov and is distinguished by the unique taste of the berries, which is maintained even in a rainy summer. Bushes are medium-sized, reaching heights up to 1.6-2 meters, with straight canes covered with rigid thorns, but not too sprawling. Berries have a conical shape, bright raspberry color, and weigh from 2 to 5 grams, possessing a sour-sweet taste and rich aroma, while the pulp contains a lot of raspberry juice.
Variety "Babshe leto" is remontant, which allows obtaining two harvests per season: the first in August and the second in September, wherein the autumn harvest fully ripens before the onset of frosts. Yield from one bush varies from 1 to 5 kilograms depending on growing conditions. The crop is characterized by high frost resistance, withstanding temperatures up to -30°C, however, it poorly tolerates drought, therefore requiring regular watering and care. The plant is resistant to fungal diseases such as gray mold and leaf curl, which significantly facilitates care and reduces the need for the application of chemical agents.
For successful cultivation of raspberry "Babshe leto" it is recommended to choose well-lit areas with drained soil, avoiding waterlogging. Planting is better conducted in autumn, which contributes to better rooting and bush development. After planting, beds should be mulched to retain moisture and suppress weeds. It is also important to place the raspberry patch far from plants that may suppress raspberry, such as grapes and sea buckthorn. Due to its qualities and unpretentiousness, variety "Babshe leto" is an excellent choice for obtaining tasty and aromatic berries twice per season.
