Vidma

Rapeseed variety Otma is a high-yielding hybrid created by experimental mutagenesis based on the interspecific hybrid population Marney x Forte. This variety has been included in the Ukrainian Plant Varieties Register since 2006 and belongs to the medium-early category with a vegetation period of 105-110 days. Plants reach a height of approximately 160-175 cm, ensuring good biomass and a yield potential averaging 40-42 ц/га, with maximum yields reaching 58-68 ц/га. Otma is distinguished by high resistance to lodging, shattering, and drought, making it especially valuable for cultivation in northern and eastern regions of Ukraine, as well as in forest-steppe and steppe zones. The variety is characterized by high resistance to major rapeseed diseases, including phomopsis, black leg, sclerotinia, alternaria, and bacterial disease. Infection by peronosporosis and alternaria is minimal, which contributes to maintaining crop health and stable yields. Additionally, Otma exhibits good resistance to pests such as aphids and flea beetles, with damage levels at 11-12%. Its high cold tolerance and adaptability to various climatic conditions make this variety a reliable choice for farmers. The quality of Otma rapeseed also deserves attention: oil content reaches 46-47.3%, with minimal erucic acid levels (approximately 0.1%) and glucosinolates (0.3%). Protein content in the seed is high — around 25.7% — making it valuable raw material for oilseed industry and feed base. The 1000-seed mass varies from 4.5 to 4.7 grams. The cultivation technology for Otma rapeseed is relatively simple due to its tolerance to thermal regimes and stress factors, enabling successful cultivation under various weather conditions.
