Champion of Ukraine

Winter rapeseed hybrid 'Champion of Ukraine' was developed by the Institute of Agronomy of NAAN and registered in the Ukrainian Variety Register since 2002. This medium-maturing, high-yielding variety is intended for cultivation in the forest-steppe and Polesie regions. The plant reaches an average height of 165-167 cm, has a round stem with a diameter of 15-18 mm, and forms 5-6 first-order branches. The vegetation period lasts approximately 272 days, and flowering lasts 25-30 days, ensuring uniform vegetative mass formation and stable yield development. The 'Champion of Ukraine' variety is distinguished by high yield potential up to 6 tons per hectare (55 centners), making it attractive for various agroclimatic zones of Ukraine. The 1000-seed weight is approximately 5.4 grams; seeds are round and black-brown or black-blue in color. Pods measuring 6-12 cm contain 20-31 seeds, with 300-400 pods forming per plant. Seed oil content is at the level of 45-47%, with oil content of 46.1%, protein 18.6%, glucosinolates 0.9%, and low erucic acid level — 0.3%, which meets the requirements of a low-erucic variety. The variety exhibits high resistance to adverse factors: winter hardiness, resistance to lodging, shattering, and fusarium are rated at 8 out of 10. Additionally, 'Champion of Ukraine' demonstrates good resistance to bacterial diseases and other diseases, as well as good drought and cold tolerance. Due to these qualities and its versatility — for producing food meal, oil, and biodiesel — this rapeseed is a reliable choice for farmers aiming to obtain a stable and high-quality yield across various regions of the country.
