The Black Giant rapeseed variety is a mid-late variety with plant heights of approximately 165–170 cm and a relatively short vegetation period ranging from 292 to 323 days. The plant is characterized by a round stem with a thickness of 14–17 mm and a bushy growth pattern, forming 7–8 first-order branches. The inflorescences have a spikelet-like shape, measuring 26–37 cm in length, with yellow flowers. The fruit pods are 8–10 cm long and contain 25–31 black seeds of a perfect spherical shape. The mass of 1000 seeds varies from 3.0 to 5.0 g. The Black Giant seeds are distinguished by their high oil content of 45.5%, a low level of glucosinolates (0.9%), and erucic acid (0.3%), making them a valuable raw material for various industries. The variety is resistant to lodging and shattering, as well as possessing high drought tolerance, which allows for recommending it for regular sowing in all regions of Ukraine. Thanks to these characteristics, Black Giant is a reliable choice for farmers seeking a stable and quality harvest. Rapeseed, in general, is a highly profitable and waste-free crop, widely used in the production of biodiesel fuel, edible oil, and margarine, as well as in metallurgical, soap-making, leather, and textile industries.
