Radish variety Odesskaya 5 is an early-maturing white variety intended for cultivation in open ground and under plastic covers. The vegetative period from seedling emergence to technical maturity is 35-46 days. The root is round, 7-11 cm in diameter, weighing 40-70 grams, with a smooth, even snow-white skin. The flesh is juicy, dense, and crisp, with a mild spicy-sweet taste without pronounced bitterness. The radish is characterized by high yield — up to 3 kg per square meter, as well as resistance to cracking and minor frost down to -3°C. For successful cultivation of the variety, it is recommended to choose fertile, moderately moist loamy or clay-loam soils with a deep plow horizon. The radish is demanding in terms of moisture and fertilization: it is optimal to apply mineral fertilizers twice a year, as well as manure when preparing the soil. Seeds are sown at a depth of 2-3 cm at a rate of 1.5-2 g per square meter. The optimal temperature for root formation is 15-18 °C, and seeds are capable of germinating at temperatures from 2 to 4 °C. It is recommended to place the crop in sunny areas with regular watering and timely soil loosening to combat weeds. The Odesskaya 5 variety is characterized by high transportability and excellent storability — roots can be stored in cool conditions for up to 1 month without loss of quality. Due to its taste qualities and appearance, the radish is widely used in the preparation of cold soups, vegetable salads, and appetizers.
