Radish Levina

Maximizing early season yields with the 'Levina' variety

For agricultural operations focused on spring production cycles, the 'Levina' radish, developed by the Timiryazev Agricultural Academy (FGBOU VO RGAU-MSKHA), offers a high-performance solution for rapid market entry. Its primary advantage is a highly compressed maturation cycle of just 18–25 days, allowing producers to clear fields quickly for subsequent crops.

Disease resistance and agronomic efficiency

Choosing this variety is driven by its biological resilience. Whether grown in protected or open ground, 'Levina' exhibits robust resistance to pathogens that typically jeopardize the profitability of early-season radish crops:

• Cladosporiosis (leaf mold);
• Viral mosaics and systemic plant viruses;
• Powdery mildew.

This inherent genetic protection helps minimize the need for fungicide applications, which is a critical factor for crops with such a short growing period.

Market-ready produce standards

The variety produces uniform, round roots with a deep, bright-red color, with an average weight of 15–20 grams per unit. For commercial growers, this translates into a high pack-out rate of top-grade produce during sorting. The consistency in size and shape makes 'Levina' an excellent candidate for bunching or netting, meeting the strict visual requirements of modern retail chains.
