Pumpkin CURLING PUMPKIN

Stability and Tradition from VNIISSOK

The "Curling" (Kerling) variety is the result of long-term breeding work by specialists at VNIISSOK, aimed at developing a pumpkin that combines commercial appeal with practicality. In the temperate climatic zone, this variety has established itself as a reliable choice for farmers focused on a long sales cycle.

Agrotechnical Features and Market Quality

The key feature of "Curling" lies in the plant's growth habit: it is a vigorous crop with an indeterminate vine, requiring sufficient space in the field to form a full crop. The fruits possess precise commercial characteristics that are in high demand in both wholesale markets and retail chains:

• Fruit shape: perfectly round, which facilitates logistics and storage.
• Weight: in the 3–5 kg range, which is considered the "gold standard" for consumer demand.
• Appearance: recognizable yellow-brown color of the dense skin.

Market Positioning

The reputation of this variety is built on its exceptional storability. For professional farmers, "Curling" is primarily of interest for its ability to delay sales: the fruits retain their commercial appearance and taste qualities for many months after harvest. This makes the variety a strategically important asset for operations seeking to minimize storage losses and wait for the most profitable market conditions during the winter and early spring period.
