Kyivska 20 is a high-yielding, soft winter wheat variety of intensive type, characterized by high frost and drought resistance. This non-awned, tall variety is resistant to powdery mildew, brown leaf rust, lodging, and seed germination problems, ensuring reliable yields even under adverse conditions. According to data from the Institute of Plant Physiology and Genetics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the average yield of Kyivska 20 during the competitive trial period of 2014–2016 was 107.5 c/ha, with a maximum of 116.3 c/ha.
Kyivska 20 wheat stands out for its high grain quality, containing significant amounts of protein and gluten, making it valuable for the food industry. The grain of this variety meets human nutritional requirements, with 12–24 % protein, 53–58 % starch, nearly 2 % fat, as well as ash and fiber. High field resistance to major diseases such as powdery mildew, brown rust, septoria, and snow mold ensures stable yields across various agro-climatic zones of Ukraine.
Due to its adaptability and plasticity, Kyivska 20 is recommended for cultivation in various regions of Ukraine, with a seeding rate of 5.5–6.0 million seeds per hectare depending on the zone and moisture availability. This variety is among the leading selections of the Institute of Plant Physiology and Genetics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, confirming its high production reliability and stable yields.
